I’m long overdue for an update. Here goes!
I checked out the local aikido dojo and it’s not an option. He is still rebuilding his school and only has a kids class. Strike 1.
I then checked out the judo club on a wild hair. Nice people. Good instructor who is also a cop. However, they do too many crazy exercises that would not be good for Mr. Neck. e.g. jumping forward break falls, neck bridge-type exercises, etc. So, strike 2.
At this point I considered hanging it up. Seriously. I totally rebuilt my gym routine and have added treadmill running. I’m also injury-free. But I’m also going martial arts nuts!
I’ve decided to check out a local ITF Tae-kwondo school. They come highly recommended, have a good reputation in these here parts, and have more and higher ranked masters than my old collection of schools. They also have three locations in town and a student base that ranges in age from kids to adults in their 60s.
Last TKD run I came up in a (mostly) WTF-oriented school. So this could be an opportunity to experience another side of tae-kwondo.
More as the story develops!
