Christianity on the decline?

With all the news surrounding the Pope, religion is once again in the news. Several newscasts have mentioned the challenges facing the new Pope, including a general decline in religious beliefs.

Christianity, or at least the number identifying themselves as followers of the largest religion, is on the slide with more than 4 million fewer saying they followed the church than in 2001.

“I would say whoever takes his place will have to contend more and more with global issues, such as the environment, globalization, poverty and religious pluralism,” said Philip Cunningham…

This is pure speculation, however, I think that this video has a lot to do with the decline.

  1. Oh my sweet jesus. I want this to be my ringtone.

Decline of christianity? Perhaps. Maybe it is more a rise in “keeping our religions to ourselves” (one of “Saint Carlin’s” Two Commandments) which can only end in good.

  2. John says:

I think Catholicism may be on the decline. Evangelicalism and the like is on the rise, along with its adherence to certain prophecies, the Book of Revelation, eschatology, end days, etc. Just in time for N. Korea, Iran, Israel/Hamas, or any other world crisis du jour.

  3. John,

Yeah, you could be right. Truthfully I was just looking for an excuse to inflict that rap video on my readers.

    I’m a bad man.
