A former Navy SEAL known for claiming a record number of sniper killings in Iraq was one of two men shot dead at a Texas gun range, allegedly at the hands of a fellow military veteran, officials say.
That’s just messed up. A veteran with his service record ends up dying on home soil? Rest in peace, Mr. Kyle.
My armchair after action review?
I tend to think that sometimes guns provide a false sense of security. Yes, there are instances where a gun in the home was a factor in legitimate self-defense. However, even if you sleep with the darn thing, the chances are slim that Joe Average is going to get it out in time to stop the movie villains who you think will storm your house.
Even weapons experts like Mr. Kyle can fall victim to random gun violence.
Such a waste.

Do some research. Check out the work of Dr. Gary Kleck, a criminologist at Florida State University. American, per his award winning research, use firearms up to several million times a year. No one gets shot. The criminal sees the intended victim is armed and leaves, quickly.
Those numbers dwarf accidents, suicide, and misadventure.
