Wing Chun Documentary

If you have 50 minutes to kill I stumbled upon a five-part documentary on Wing Chun. You can thank Master Wong because it showed up in the sidebar as I perused his videos.

The series is in what I presume to be Chinese. Also, in part one you can see clips of karate folks breaking boards. Any readers happen to understand Chinese? I’d love to know what the narrator is saying about karate.

  1. Drew says:

The documentary is in Cantonese and it’s done by a Hong Kong TV company (I recognize the logo on the upper right). I haven’t watched the whole thing since I’m going to work soon, but it’s filled with a lot of the things that we’ve already heard about Wing Chun.

The narrator practicing Karate is basically telling us his motivation for starting martial arts was Bruce Lee and his observations of kung fu and society at that time. He says he first saw Bruce Lee while in college and was amazed by him and that was how he started his journey to Karate. I’ll get back to you when I have more time to watch it.

  2. Thanks for that! I was wondering if it was disparaging or something else.
