It figures. I move out west during the midst of an Apocalypse.
That said, there does appear to be an overall upward trend. Wildfires are getting bigger and more frequent.
Due to smoke from nearby wildfires my mountain hikes are on a hiatus. In fact, I can barely stand to be outdoors. Most days the entire town smells like a campfire. For the last week I’ve awoken to burning eyes and a scratchy throat. Here is a photo I snapped Saturday morning:
Normally I can see the mountains. Now they are covered in a blueish haze. In fact the whole town is. The only good news is that we are only getting smoke from some of the big fires. Luckily we are not directly in their path.
What else? Training is still regular. I’m making it to the gym four times a week and also am stretching. The only corrective action I need is to get back into some sort of light kicking routine. With luck I’ll do that this week.
I did follow Gye’s advice and went to Wal-mart for a cheap dorm room fridge. Mrs. Patterson did leave me some pots and pans so now I can save money and make breakfast, lunch and dinner. I figure when our fridge finally arrives the little fridge will fit nicely in my office.
To avoid going stir crazy I went out last night to an Irish Pub/bowling alley. It’s a smoke-free place that plays rock music. I ended up spending a few hours at the bar people watching and drinking beer. Dojo Rat would be proud!
The kids these days! Did you know that a popular drink is a mixture of Red Bull and vodka? That just can’t be good for you! I guess I’m pretty old school.

Hope you stay cool! The world weather semems a bit crazy, hot over in USA and EU, heaviest plum rains in 10 yrs. over here in Taiwan. We had 2000mm (2m, really) of rain in 12 days! Well, no other way than to adopt. We are back to the normal heat, 35°C, fells like 42°, according CNN weather, lol!
