Not Bob Patterson
Week one of the new job went well. I now have a sense of the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities what I will be facing. So far so good! The summer schedule is flexible so I was hoping to take care of the DMV dance before I need to use a state vehicle. Well I tapped out twice so I’m taking next Friday off. I plan to spend the morning getting my plates, registration and license. I also need to open a bank account so I plan to take care of that in the afternoon.
One of my staff is a hiker and drew me some maps that will get me to a few nearby trails. She and her husband were going out on a medium rated trail this morning and I could have joined them. However, I lack the gear. Regardless, I’m headed up the mountain today to see what kind of trouble I can get into. With luck I’ll post some photos tomorrow.
Speaking of trouble, check out this video that features Russians jumping off buildings!
The list of reasons why this is a bad idea is longer than I’m willing to commit time to!
Lastly, I thought I had done my best to leave the last job as secretly as possible. Some close friends took me out for breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks (lots) which I greatly appreciated. I also ran into a few colleagues on campus who were genuine, had kinds words and shook my hand, etc. I did my best to avoid the obligatory farewell cake party where at least half of the attendees are there for gossip, back-handed compliments and free food. Sadly I could not get out of the cake party but I did succeed in keeping it small.
I was, however, very surprised to discover my departure from the university was filmed.
Enjoy!
