Just a list of stuff that goes through my head:
- Just when you’ve thought you’ve seen it all someone raises the bar on crazy!
“After officers kicked the door in, Carter began stabbing himself with the knife and allegedly threw bits of his skin and intestines at officers before attempting to swing the knife at them.”
- My love-hate relationship with Andrew Jackson. Things I like: 1) Commoner who stood up to authority, 2) Often called the Peoples’ President, 3) Opposed corruption and the national bank, 4) With a rag-tag army he beat the British at the Battle of New Orleans, and 5) Protected democracy and individual liberty. Things that disappoint me: 1) Slave owner and 2) Enforced the Indian Removal Act.
- Star Wars and George Lucas. I get that Lucas owns the Empire but someone has to tell the man to stop dicking with it! Making Greedo shoot first, having Darth scream no, the list goes on and on! Instead of making bad changes he should integrate some of the deleted scenes into the originals. Totally geek I know but Lucas left out Luke constructing a new lightsaber in Return of the Jedi. Now how cool is this? Why on earth would you leave that scene out!
Feel free to comment or not.

You heard about the case in FL where a guy ate 80% of some guy’s face?
I heard about that yesterday. Holy Cow! I think the shock of seeing that would freeze me up. That guy had to be hopped up on crazy and goof-balls. Of course throwing your own intestines is equal parts awesome and insane.
Drew: yes I did. Weird!
Tater: back in the day I saw flinging poo. Were it guts I’d have quit on the spot!
WTF is going on out there??? Cannibals everywhere…
It is messed up!
I heard a report that the Miami incident was related to a virus. This turns out to be a false rumor.
It’s still wack that people are eating faces and throwing intestines!

As regards Andrew Jackson – he benefited more from universal white manhood suffrage than he promoted it. His opposition to the Second National Bank was far more about a personal feud with Riddle, the Bank President, and his own “hard money” inclinations than “corruption”. The Battle of New Orleans was won because Jackson had cannon – lots of them – made in New England and taken off sailing ships at hand and mounted in his defensive works. The British troops couldn’t make it across his under that cannon fire. There was a regiment of free blacks that joined Jackson’s army. He promised them money but refused to pay them after the battle was won.
And this is in a pattern. After allying with the Creek Indians against the Spanish (and going well beyond his orders whilst invading Florida) he then booted them out along with the rest of the Indians. Great way to treat your allies, big guy.
I can’t stand the guy. I think he represents most of the worst impulses of American politics.
The story of how he became that way is fascinating. British treated family poorly, I believe his brother died, an officer demanded that young Andrew clean his boots & Jackson refused. The soldier struck Jackson with a saber as punishment.
Of course this may explain his behavior but does not excuse it. What he did to Native Americans should be a war crime. Sounds like his black soldiers did not fair much better.
