With all due respect but I wasn’t all that impressed. Not that he’s wrong but it seems like a blend of what Marc MacYoung has been saying for decades and what Bob Orlando wrote in Martial Arts America in1997…
Hows it going? Good to see you back into blogging. Just wanted to let you know that I’m no longer regularly using this blog. My new one is at dragonriderone.wordpress.com. You’ll find that I’m a lot more prolific in that one.
This blog will still be up, but I’ll just be using this as a portfolio of sorts of my work. Thanks for the understanding and I will see you around!

Me either. I have several instructors make the same distinctions many years ago. I posted it partially because I’m slutting and partially because their may be a few following this blog who never have thought about it.
Blogging will be spotty. If you want to catch up on me just read a few posts back.
Short version:
1. Moving for a new job
2. Stopped martial arts and exercise spotty
3. Getting fat due to lack of exercise and stress eating/drinking
Mid June or July I plan to start serious exercise. In Jan. if all is well financially I plan a return to martial arts. The area I’m moving to offers TKD, aikido, and Krav Maga. I have my eyes on Krav but I really need to get back into shape!
Although, I think it’s a false typology. For example, does Krav Maga count as ”martial techniques” (despite the general lack of weaponry) — or ”martial art” (despite the lack of spiritual stuff (I don’t think they do ”character”, either (right?).

Hi Wim -

Hey Accidental!
I will add your blog to my reader.

Well, it’s a new insight to me.

Hey Bob!
Either one of those 3 (Aikido, TKD, KM) will give you exercise – if you can handle it! Just kidding! Good to hear, I will see you around!
Drew
“Slutting” Lol!
Hi Gye –
Not sure. The Krav Maga Association of America calls it a self-defense system. Perhaps that’s the correct definition?
Makes sense. Which suggests that the typology in the video should have a fourth category.
(BTW — welcome black; glad I didn’t remove you from my list o’ blogs…)

Hi Gye,
Yeah, I think I’ve seen typologies with four such categories before. As Wim noted, not the best video and certainly not original.
