Is this thing still on?
I thought I’d update those of you who still follow this cry for help. Here’s what I’ve been up to since last November. They say three is a charm. Apparently “they” are right. Approximately one month ago I interviewed for the Next Big Thing. Suffice to say I got the job.
So, during the end of May, I will be moving to an undisclosed Western state. I am smack dab in the middle of cowboy country. Given that I grew up in cowboy country there is a part of me that is excited to get back to my roots. This particular area has some of the best trout fishing in the country so, once things settle, I plan to fish again. Hopefully a bear won’t eat me when I return.
A lot has to happen between then and now: finding housing, putting a house on the market, moving, me living out of a motel for at least a month, etc. Also, I am now in charge of my own zoo. Already other zookeepers from said undisclosed state have contacted me. So between learning the new zoo and politicking I’m going to be swamped until December.
My martial arts has gone to hell and my exercise is marginal. I’ve resurrected running and, to my surprise, Mr. Neck is holding up. I think it has to do with the fact that its not getting cranked on. I’ve been trying to slip in push-ups, sit-ups, and running 3-4 times a week. I’ve also been abusing myself with the four food groups: alcohol, chips, pizza, and cake. For sure I have gained weight. I have worked myself up to a 2 mile run which is good. However, I look a lot like “the Geezer” or “the Stiffy” in this video:
Once I get settled I need to get serious about an exercise routine. I figure I can take the fall to get back into shape and then consider a martial art in January. What does the area offer? Well, to my surprise, it has Krav Maga! In addition there’s also Tae Kwon Do and Aikido. For sure I plan to check out the Krav Maga. Past that we’ll see.
As for this blog, well, expect a post or two from time to time.
