OK, I think a committee of monkeys may have designed Blogger. For sure WordPress is far ahead of it. Let’s just say I’ve had problems, complaints, and general annoyance on my move to Blogger.
WordPress made me tap out.
Blogs at WordPress.com are better because of the following:
- Better statistics
- Better interface
- The widgets which make customization a cinch
- Better templates
- Better organization of tags, categories, and links.
I deal with technology all day and sometimes I have to fix it. So the last thing I want to do is wrestle with Blogger or, worse still, self-host with WordPress. I’ve self-hosted before and it’s a pain in the butt. So this is probably worth giving up the dream of making peanuts from paid ads.
For those of you who switched links I apologize. For the immediate future Striking Thoughts is here to stay at WordPress.com!
That having been noted, if there’s someone out there who wants to host my blog and pay me a pittance, well, we can certainly talk!

Ive had none of those issues to any degree with blogger. I thougjt a couple of yrars ago about migrating to ep brcause of the hype, but it confused me and pissed me off. Seriouslu, blogger is a much, much better blogging enviroment than wp.
Glad wp works for you, though.
Hi Pat,
I think it’s a matter of what one is used to. Sadly, I’ve drank from the WordPress Koolaid and don’t have the energy to put into Blogger. Plus I abhor having to mess with CSS.
I use an external host but operate with wordpress, having bought my domain name from 1&1. All in all it’s a pretty good setup with a lot of flexibility.
Hi Matt,
In the early ST days I did that too via Dreamhost. I got tired of the configuring and extra payment. Were I a bonified instructor I might consider it.
Anyhow, it was a good experiment. It also gave me a break from blogging.
My usual blathering will pick up in July.
I started with blogger and left there screaming at the top of my lungs. Never again.. I now self host Word Press via http://www.bluehost.com/. Setting up WordPress is a breeze with their script. Other than doing routine maintenance, there’s no work involved for me.
With the traffic you have, you should be bale to earn out the cost via Adsense.
Just a thought.
Wim
