At this point my Google Reader is so packed with RSS feeds I sometimes forget where I find this stuff! Anyhow, I’m pretty sure that I found Martial Art Book after the owner left a comment on this blog.
While his content is geared toward MMA, an awful lot of it can be utilized by traditional martial artists. Case in point would be his Frank Shamrock “100 Workout” post:
“This MMA routine is very focused, repetitive, and fatiguing. However this workout is very much centered around how an MMA fight will fatigue your body in an actual fight, so it is a very functional workout! “
I’ve blogged about and utilized a version of the 100 Workout before. Right now I try to do a kettlebell routine once-per-week. I may have to revisit the 100s and rotate the kettlebells weekly. If I had the money and the time I’d probably enroll in a kettlebell class. Yes, you can do them alone but they are doggone grueling! Enough so in fact that I’d be more motivated if I had someone yelling at me.
Anyhow, do spend some time over at Martial Art Book. He’s collected some great material that most martial artists will find useful.

At my gym we have kettle bell classes. Haven’t taken it yet, but I will soon. They really tone you up from what I’ve seen.
Indeed they do! They are a great full-body workout.
Hey Bob,
Thank you for the shout out and blog post! I have been working hard getting good training material put together over at martial art book. I know exactly where you are coming from when you say your rss feed is so packed! It is hard to sift through the junk to find the good posts like yours always are. If you have any tips or tricks let me know that would make a great post!
Thanks,
Craig
