Mr. Big Mouth

I recently received an e-mail from someone who used to follow this blog. This person also “friended” me on Facebook. Said person posted a video on his/her FB page and also blogged about it. The video dealt with an opinion on gun rights that I happen to disagree with. Well if you are posting in a public venue and have your comments open, I assume you want to hear other opinions. So I left my opinion which, by the way, did not agree with the 20 or so folks who also posted comments. It also did not agree with the opinion of the blog owner.

So this person sends me a long rant of an e-mail, deletes my comments, and calls me “Mr. Big Mouth” in the process. They also have decided to no longer follow my blog.

I guess my point in all this is don’t shoot your mouth off in a public forum if you don’t want people to disagree with you. Make your blog private and distribute passwords to those of  your friends who will tell you what you want to hear. Also, be more selective in who you “friend” on Facebook.

Am I guilty of this behavior on this blog? Probably not. I have deleted a handful of comments that were nothing but profane rants. Past that the only time I ended a discussion was, again, on the topic of gun control. I posted my opinion (hint: that’s what blogs are for). Someone disagreed. I responded. They continued to want to have a debate and I did not. So I ended the discussion and suggested they look for one of the million or so folks out there who like to debate in discussion forums. I don’t know if this person still follows this blog because they have not commented since, but I do know that I let them have their opinion.

Anyhow, lets close this post with a video from Mr. Scary Dave. If you don’t want to hear his entire rant just FF to 3:00 and listen to about 3:40 and again from 8:00 to about 8:36. Those sections pretty much sum up how I feel.
