By now y’all have figured out that I returned from my vacation. Where did the Pattersons go? We drove up to the Pocono Mountains. Would I call them actual mountains? Hardly. My wife is from Denver and I’ve been in the Rockies. Not even close! They really reminded me of the Ozarks–minus the Army-induced Fort Chaffee pain. I went running a total of once and practiced zero martial arts. At least Matthew made an honorable attempt at martial arts when he visited! I did, however, drink a few beers every day! Past that we did some shopping, site seeing, and lots of eating. Overall a really good vacation. (read: no inane family stuff!)
Here’s a few of the more interesting photos (click to enlarge):
- The Pattersons at Bushkill Falls
- Apparently I don’t want to leave
- OK, a beer almost every night!
- Mrs. Patterson next to a giant beaver
- Very curious…
Various shots:
- Cool house
- Bob at the library
- Alternative toilet
- Bob @ age 80
- Creepy house (aka Bob’s retirement home)
- The old jail in Jim Thorpe PN
The day we visited Jim Thorpe the old jail was closed. Undaunted by “rules” I tried to break in. Ironic on several levels…
The boat tour at Lake Wallenpaupack. We drove for two hours and ended up being the only people on the darn boat! Ergo “the look” on my face.
On the drive back we stopped at Hershey Pennsylvania. Naturally, Mrs. Patterson had to visit the Chocolate Lab. While at the lab we were afforded the chance to make chocolate. Mine is on the left and it’s supposed to be a cat. da Vinci I am not!
There seems to be a feminine theme developing. Last year I suffered this indignation. This year it was almost as bad. At the rate I’m going I suspect that next year you’ll see photos of me in a dress…

Looks like is a was a cool vacation. It is good to get away now and then.
Nice trip!
Did you happen to buy one of those awesome cookies at Chocolate World? I have to admit that I drive to Hershey for the cookies. : )
