Last night was the last practice before my vacation. We actually made it through all of Pal Jang. The first part is the worst and is still giving me trouble…the whole mountain block/low block with the foot transitions are going to take lots of work. After that it’s more of what I already know but just in a different order.
Since I’m a early riser I plan to practice my forms in the morning before my wife wakes up. It gives me something to do until she is ready for vacation activities. I also don’t want to lose what I have already learned re: Pal Jang.
Past that, last night’s practice revolved around hogu drills and sparring. I got beat but respectively held my own against my instructor so I’m happy about that. I also skimmed her head guard with a round kick. Not enough for points but sooo close! After this last year she finally has to worry about her head too. Prior to that I was all middle section attacks but my flexibility is improving. Too bad our founder is not here because I’d love to show him the gains I made.
Injury front: Aside from the ever-present soreness I’m pretty good. As for my instructor; well, she did not have a break in her pinky finger. (not sure if I blogged that before or not) Rather, the specialist told her that she tore tendons after blocking my kick. So she’ll have to wear a brace for a while.
